In a coup for The Triangle, we’re bringing folk rock megastar Alex Neilson to Shipley with his Alex Rex identity.
Known for his work with Trembling Bells, Bonnie "Prince" Billy, Shirley Collins and others, Alex Rex is Glasgow-based Neilson’s 'ghost-rock' project.
‘Inspired by Greek Tragedy, Barbara Streisand and Alex's own internal critic, Alex Rex perform songs of love, loss and loathing that make the detestable whistleable.’
Neilson is supported by Dan Haywood, described by Record Collector Magazine as ‘The best songwriter you've probably never heard of’. Having worked with the likes of Josephine Forster, Haywood has drawn comparisons with English pastoral eccentrics such as Syd Barrett and Robyn Hitchcock but his voice and vision remain his own throughout a dizzying array of projects and collaborations.
