A Patrons Project that’s been going long enough to see West Coast beers fall from favour and have a recent resurgence.
Mark Newton is back with the next chapter of his journey down the California coast, and he’s in great company for this, the second of our Hop City collabs. This may well be the biggest, dankest IPA we’ve made ever, certainly in the series!

Our good friends at Crosby Hops have kindly let us be one of the first to brew with one of their new developmental varieties – CH3. Expect a waft of dank cannabis, overlayed and softened by white grapefruit and peach rings. Paired CH3 with two more Crosby varieties; Columbus and their excellent estate-grown Comet, an incredibly underrated hop that we’ve been using for years in Eternal. Aside from a pronounced peppery dankness, expect notes of cantaloupe melon, lemon zest and bubblegum. All of this is over a clean pilsner malt base for a softly resinous body with light bready notes which lets the hops shine before a long, pithy finish. FFO (that’s ‘For Fans Of’) Pliny the Elder and Heady Topper

We’ve also timed up with an expert exponent of the style, Gross Brewery, a small brewery located in the Basque Country. Blending hop-forward ales with German and Czech style their beer is a blend modern craft and well brewed tradition. Initially founded in 2013 as a contract brewery they opened their own brewery in 2017 and have been thriving ever since.
